On my first day in the Interior design program, I walked into class and took a seat. The professor had already started the lecture, so I tried to settle in as quietly as possible. I quickly noticed that everyone had these giant-sized binders in front of them; building code binders and at that moment I began to panic. I thought to myself “I’m not going to make it.” and just then the girl next to me leaned over and said, “Hey, I think you’re in the wrong class, this is 3rd-year Construction IV.” 4 years have passed by since that day and although I believed then that I wasn’t going to make it, this program has equipped me with many design skills and a unique understanding of the profession. Over my time in this program, I have learned to pay close attention to the details and focus on the small and seemingly insignificant things that can have a great impact on the spaces in which we occupy. I have learned that in solving many small problems we can create big solutions.
